NIKE : GUIDING PRINCIPLES

While working at Nike I was asked to make typographic posters for each of the 7 guiding principles for the Organized Team Sports division. One poster would include all the principles and me mounted at the end of every pod and then 7 individual posters to be mounted by the conference room. It was rare to have an individual project but they asked me because of my passion for typography. While working on the designs I decided to make sure every role in the department felt represented in the design and execution. I worked with the photography and licensing department to acquire rights to use a picture of the hand of Lisa Leslie and the hand Carl Lewis. I consulted with the fabric sourcing team to get white fabric that would be able to handle screen printing and embroidery. I then worked with the screen printing and color separation teams to screen print on the fabric. Last the embroidery team finished the design by adding the one red word on each design and the gray line that tied all the designs together to represent a "common thread" throughout the guiding principles that was all of us working together to create products "engineered to the exact specifications of championship athletes."
